The Telepathy Narrative: Who Gets to Tell the Story?: Ep. 3-Safety vs Truth
What happens when lived experience enters a space with a predefined framework for truth?
In this episode, I share my experience visiting Highlands Church in Phoenix and the deeper questions that surfaced during my time there. While the environment demonstrated care, structure, and a commitment to supporting non-speaking individuals, it also revealed something less subtle—clear expectations around language, interpretation, and belief.
As I engaged in conversation, I began to notice how quickly the focus shifted from the children and their experiences… to my own spiritual framework. My discernment was questioned. My perspective was challenged. And it became clear that experiences like telepathy were only considered valid within a specific, Jesus-centered lens.
This episode also introduces the concept of fawning—how highly attuned individuals may respond in ways that prioritize safety, connection, and regulation over authentic expression. It raises a critical question: when something appears to be confirmation, is it truly alignment… or is it adaptation?
Through this lens, I explore the intersection of safety, truth, and power—and what it means to create spaces that genuinely honor the lived experiences of those they claim to support.
