Bio:
Danae Jones-Aicher was a mass communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in news and public relations when she made the choice to leave her career to be what she calls a “professional Mom”.

She joined Mocha Moms in 2009, when the birth of her first child prompted her to help charter the Hampton Roads, Virginia chapter. A few years later she began serving as the Director of Communications for the National Board.

In recent years, Danae has jumped back into the workforce as the Director of Equity for the Rainbow Community School where she designs and conducts social justice workshops for teachers, students, parents, and other organizations. In addition to her service to the Mocha Moms, Inc. national board, she also serves on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina and she’s recently finished a four-year term on the Board of Building Bridges of Asheville, a local anti-racism organization.

Throughout her careers in news, politics and now social justice, Danae says the through-line has been observing the ways in which power, privilege and oppression- especially along racial lines- play out in our society and systems.
