Sample and Scope Note, Stated On Air
The Mills sample was predominantly white women at a private California women’s college, born in the 1930s and 1940s. Baxter Magolda’s participants were predominantly white Midwestern college students. Neither study examined Black women, and neither examined romantic partner selection. Kleinplatz and Ménard’s sample was not designed to be demographically representative. Applying any of this work to dating readiness for high-achieving Black women is Candice Harper’s interpretation, stated as such on air.
